Music mogul Clive Davis reveals a great deal about the celebrities that he has worked with, in his second memoir, “The Soundtrack of My Life.” Davis, who is known for the groundbreaking success of Whitney Houston, Luther Vandross, Alicia Keys, Kelly Clarkson and many others gets very in-depth about his success in the Music Industry. But what readers would not expect is that he shares one of the most intimate things about himself. At the end of the book, Davis gets candid about being bis*xual.
Davis, who has children and has been married and divorced twice addresses his s*xuality in just five pages, at the end of the book. He describes his first encounter with a man at Studio 54. He writes, “On this night, after imbibing enough alcohol, I was open to responding to his s*xual overtures.” Up until that point, Davis had never been with a man before. He describes the encounter “welcome relief.”
After his divorce from his second wife, Davis went on to be in a relationship with two women and two men. In 1990 Davis was in a relationship with an unnamed male doctor, but that relationship ended in 2004. He is currently in another monogamous relationship with another man. Davis admits that his choice to date both men and women tainted his relationship with his son, Mitchell, but the two have managed to work things out.
Davis’s preference to date both men and women does not take away from the fact that Davis is the well-respected “Don” of the Music Industry.
