Mom Gives Birth on the Job, Then Gets Fired For It
The Standard Hotel in New York is currently under the public microscope for what might be one of the most ratchet things that anyone could ever do. The company is being accused of firing one of its employees for giving birth in one of the hotel rooms. The woman says that she didn’t expect to do it, it just sorta happened.
Tara Tan is the woman who gave birth to the baby. She said that she didn’t expect to have the child, but doubled over in pain and the rest was history. The woman called her husband, who came to the hotel. He is the one who delivered the child. They were then taken out of a side entrance allegedly to keep from disturbing the guests with such a “disgusting inconvenience.”
The woman is suing the pants off of this hotel, as she rightfully should. We hope she wins enough money to pay for the baby’s education.
And even though she’d just given birth, Tara went back to work a mere three days later. And not too long after that, she was fired. The reason for her termination? She “didn’t fit in with the culture of the hotel.”
Of course, she’s now filed a $10 million discrimination lawsuit after what went down — as anyone in her situation should do.
How can you not feel for this poor woman? Out of all the places to potentially go into labor and deliver your baby, no one expects to do it on the job. OMG. Can you even imagine how humiliating it must have been for her to have to resort to giving birth in a hotel room with her co-workers around? I’m sure she was pretty mortified, and it must have been even harder for her to return to work after what happened.
And speaking of returning to work — what the heck was she doing back at that hotel just days after having a baby?!? I’m guessing she was worried she’d lose her job if she took maternity leave, and little did she know that she was about to be fired regardless of her dedication to the hotel.

I guess I’d really like to hear more of the details before passing judgement on the hotel or the woman. For instance, how long after she keeled over in pain did she deliver the baby? Was it minutes or hours? Was anyone around when she keeled over in pain? Do we know that it wasn’t her plan all along to deliver the baby in one of the hotel rooms? Why wasn’t 911 called? Even by her husband? All of it sounds a bit suspicious to me.

ghetto & insensitive to fire her/dummy at best. guess the bosses thought this was WHERE????? i dont think china, mexico or any other nation would’ve treated her like that. shoulda let it go / get paid Mrs & family & congratulations!!!!! amen.
